Emirates Airlines has enacted a ban on pagers and walkie-talkies aboard its aircraft in response to recent explosions in Lebanon that have been linked to communication devices. This restriction applies to passengers travelling to, from, or through Dubai, prohibiting these items in both checked and cabin luggage. The decision follows a series of deadly blasts reportedly involving devices associated with the Iran-backed Hezbollah group, which has accused Israel of orchestrating the attacks. Consequently, Emirates has also suspended flights to various Middle Eastern destinations amid escalating tensions.

In light of the explosions, Emirates issued a statement emphasising that any pagers or walkie-talkies discovered in passenger baggage will be confiscated by Dubai Police. The airline has underscored its commitment to stringent security measures to ensure passenger safety. The tragic explosions last month resulted in at least 37 fatalities and nearly 3,000 injuries across Lebanon.

Beyond the device ban, Emirates has extended flight suspensions to Iraq and Iran until Tuesday due to the unstable situation in the region. While flights to Jordan are anticipated to resume shortly, services to and from Lebanon will remain halted until mid-October. Israel's intensified military actions in Lebanon, particularly near Beirut's airport, have led many airlines to temporarily suspend operations to and from the country.

As tensions in the Middle East rise, Emirates and other airlines are closely monitoring regional developments to ensure the safety of passengers and crew. Several carriers have also suspended or limited flights to Beirut and other high-risk areas. Passengers travelling to affected destinations are advised to stay updated on any changes to flight schedules and travel restrictions.
